hospitals are big on volunteers. I used to volunterr at one. ALso try schools, churches, go to the town hall(if you have one) and ask them if they need help.

I'm sure in most towns there is a center for voluunteering. mine is called the voluntary action center. it is a base for distribution for all kinnds of volunteering. check it out

Go for the Fire Department. Most of the time you'd be sitting around and playing snooker (that's what I did anyway biggrin: )or sweeping the floor for them a little.

Great blokes in the FD, you'll hear amazing stories and maybe get to shoot the hose.

go to a hospital and deliver newspapers to the rooms... thats what i do every sunday morning

Fire Dept.
I don't know about the area in which you live, but in my area, these guys get a lil' pension after 20yrs. Not too shabby for a "Volunteer" organization.

Go to your local volunteer fire dept. Rather than sitting around sweeping the floors, you can actually be a part of the department. At my department we have plenty of kids. And this is a place you can make friends and it would be sometthing that you can still do after you graduate. But look into it, it could be fun.
