ok, let me correct and inform all you damn civi's on the asvab....on the asvab you gain a score for each section of the test and those scores are averaged in to give you a score between a 1-100, sadly 34 is all u need to pass and i believe the average score on the test is like a 36....the test is very basic and extremely easy, i scored an 82 which basicly qualifies me for any job in any branch of the military and that i recieve an automatic signing bonus. Don't let the recruiters fool you....you only get a signing bonus if you score over an 80.
To reiterate....the test is easy VERY easy, it is nothing like the sat/act most of the math is basic shit u learned in middle school and the vocabulary is also basic, the only "hard" stuff is the auto mechanics, electrical, and shape matching parts but through common since u should be able to negotiate those with no problem!
Cloud":e78ea]Iam not sure how it is everywhere else, but in the states, to join any armed force you must take a standardized test, the ASVAB <Armed Services Vocational Aplitude Battery> (SP?)
just out of curiosity, those who have taken it what did you score?
i took it today and havn't received my results but iam very sure i scored 80+ it was pretty easy.
anywhoo on with the scores rock:[/quote:e78ea]

Weve got summin like that here aswell..
120 questions, and its interactive.
So if you answer very good on the first questions, it will automatically get harder and harder.. oOo:
Anywho, i got 104 out of those 120, and they said thats amongst the top 4%.
Seeing its an obligatory test for everyone whos turned 18, i think thats pretty nice.. happy:

here is what my test was like
max score 99
bubble sheet ( No. 2 pencil type test )
at the begining of testing we had an army nat. gaurd officer, a navy officer, and a air force officer, along with the test coordinator out of dallas. the army nat. gaurd officer told every one that the min to get in was 31, and if you scored over 50 you get 3000 sign on, and 200 more a month from the state. but iam sure that's just for the nat. gaurd though.
9 sections
math , eletronics (circuits - currents) , mechanics (pullies, levers, incline planes) , Reading Comp. (read a paragraph and answer some q's about it) and a few other sections. but ya it was pretty easy.
it's not required to take it. the only thing that men have to do when they turn 18 is sign up for selective services <DRAFT>. there is no law saying you have to take the asvab, but you have to if you want to join any branch.
i didn't post this to like start a flame war.i was just wondering what everyone scored. i guess the tests are diffrent from place to place. biggrin:

the max score possible on the asvab is indeed a 100. I took it several years ago and made an 88. Considering I was going to try for 12bravo all I needed to make was a 51 I think, so I was quite happy with my scores. To make infantry you must make at least a 34 as stated above. Any score above 80 is qualification for nearly any job in the military. Just wondering where you took your test Joe, since I have never heard of an asvab going above 100 score wise.

he might have been talking about different sections on the test, cause on some sections of the test i got 120's and 130's but my overall average was an 82....and to answer the other guys question...the asvab is the same test nation wide, the manner in which it is administered obviously can vary (by pc or by scantron), what is diferent however is what national gaurd can offer u, cause that varies state to state....

Yeah.. With my test i qualified for it all, but since i have a slight allergy i wasnt allowed to choose amongst them all..
But i ended up with what i wanted, Survaillance and Protection Squadleader on the F4 Airforce Base..
So i dont complain.. biggrin:

The 1-99 score is nothing but a national average. For example, if you scored a 40 that means you scored 40% higher then the rest of the people taking the ASVAB. As long as you get above a 55, you're set in the military for ANY job, or any program that the military offers. The scores that really matter are the LINE SCORES, such as your GT score and about 7 or 8 other line scores that qualify you for certain jobs. If you get above a 100 on the GT part, you're set for any job or program the military offers. I scored a 58 on the ASVAB, and got my GT score was 111.
Here is my opinion of the test:
The test was easy... especially the english and science parts. The only part that I had trouble in was the two math parts which were a pain in the ass for me. None of it was adding, subtracting or divison... it was mainly trig, and some other geometry bullshit that I haven't done since 10th grade. But I still did descent in it, since I'm a good guesser cool: Plus, you can't use calculators so all of you smartfucks that rely on your calculators are fucked.
Overall you shouldn't have a problem with the test. Just make sure you score above a 55% out of 99% and make sure your line scores are good.
Cloud":a66c5]did you take it just to take it, or are you interested in joining a branch?
i want to join the marine corps. i have two ""SHAPE UP"" first happy:[/quote:a66c5]
I took it last year so I could skip to classes at school. I dont remember my scores. THey were better than most worse than some. so im guessing if its out of 100 I got liek an 83 as a minimum maybe even liek 90+. either way it was stuff I learned when I was 4. What is an electrical circuit? pssh easy, whats 4x4? easy.
