whats the point of hidding the children from the real world? this is why everyone in the states was freaking over the janet jackson thing. all these people trying to keep their children from know what its really like out there. I belive they should know. I think your doing a perfect job of it by telling them a simplafied version of whats happening. If only more parents were like you.

hmmmm,
The tape isnt that bad, just see a big plane crash into a tower, don't see any people etc, or I didn't anyway, still, that might make them anxious when it comes to flying. 4 & 5 is pretty young, but I doub't they would fully understand what you were talking about anyway. I remember my dad once told me about currents in the oceans & I was scared to take a bath biggrin:

I think your doing the right thing. You can't protect children from all the bad
in the world, but you can arm them with knowledge so that they can protect
themselves and not be nieve.

Your doing the right thing, just don't show them explicit stuff. Keep it simple. Sooner or later they'll know the full truth.

dont have kids so i cant say. i was raised in a religous type home so you didnt always get the truth ... i would probably do the same thing to protect the innocent ... etc ... too many britney spears and net video girls already. raise them to be 25 when they are 15 in a bad thing imo.

IMHO, you're going about this right. The kids know enough about what's going on to be considered well informed for their age, but at the same time you're not giving them nightmares about it.
For my mind, you've reached some sort of neutral ground between reality and blissful ignorance that a whole lot of parents wouldn't be able to achieve.
DAMN THE TORPEDOES! GO WITH IT, SAYS I!

** A note to the Spammers : SHOVE OFF Vultures!!!
lol.
Thanks guys ,
I think I am doing the right thing. I mean this is a new world , our children will grow up in a world that was coined by Pink as " World War 3 ".
( Before anyone freaks , I have a 4 year old little girl , do you honestly think I don't have a pink CD? )
They will never know what a world before 9/11 was like.
There is in my opinion a more dangerous world out there than we grew up in , I think it is important to prepare them for that.
Most of us don't live in Pleasentville , so we have a responsibillity to provide our children with as much knowledge and protection as possible.
There have always been issues that parents must work around , to help there children , crime , drugs , sex , ect.
I think to protect our children we must first make them proud to be them , show them the legacy they are from and the promise of the future.
I also think we must arm them with the power of knowledge and understanding. The more they know about a dangerous situation , the easier it will be for them to overcome one.
I have noticed alot of concern about inocence. And should kids know all these bad things.
That is a valid concern , but it is not only the bad that is being discused.
A good example is the Mars Rover , I have a telescope at the house and from time to time we take it out and look at the stars. So they see the stuff on Hubble and the Rover on the news and get exited
