Paine use the first couple of letters in the word then the number, so Olive-6933 would be 654-6933. Also there were no area codes or touchtone dialing.

Thanks John that brought back some memories. I remember my grandmother wringing out her clothes before hanging them on the line. Metal ice trays made great tasting ice!! I remember the first time I had ice from an ice maker I thought that it tasted like crap. I guess they have either improved the ice makers or I have gotten used to crappy tasting ice. My mom collected the heck out S&H Green stamps. I've still got a huge stack of 45's. Wax cokes were great! The Coke machine at the Big Brothers (in the "old days" most of the grocery stores were independent, not national chains) near my house had 6 1/2 oz Cokes for 5 cents! Great memories. thanks.
