Ja is yes in both German, Norwegian, Dannish, Icelandish(?)
and Swedish.
The thing is, Swedish is not based on German. Sure, they have some things in common. But Swedish is only a tad bit influenced by german, because of one of our kings, who really liked the sound of the language.
But this was dropped thanks to a weekly paper called "Thän Swenska Argus", in which nothing but pure Swedish was printed.
Hence, we have pure Swedish, with just as many borrowed words as English, French and even German.
Now sit down, stfu and dont you come talk to me again about my very fuckin own language, ok?
And the proper term for me is Jag, which is pronounced like Ja in the northern parts of this country.
