Gays maybe a minority, but that's irrelevant, it's the support for them that you have to consider.

For instance, I'm not gay, but I fully support civil union.

true-but majority still rules. If the majority doesnt want gay marriage, then thats the way it is.

Just and example of how polarized America is becoming (red and blue)

[quote="Jin-Roh":327ec]Possible source for powering our machines: the sun. However, it is extremely little. [/quote:327ec]

The Sun is the most abundant energy source in the Solar system. 98% of the mass of the solar system comes from our sun. It would be very wise, in my opinion, to invest time and money to develop some tool to harness the power of the sun. It would give us eternal energy for 4 billion years.

Just to uh... clarify, I mean with solar panels. Solar Panels suck. oOo:
But yes, investing in a new project to harness the suns energy more efficiently will solve a lot of problems.

1) No reply to my rebuttal to your hydrogen post?

2) Solar energy is clean, but it takes up huge amounts of space and isn't anywhere near as powerful as nuclear energy (with space used considerd).

Solar technology is coming along.

Really, if you think about it, solar panels don't suck. If you live in a sunny enough environment you can power your entire house with solar energy. In the summertime with the excess of sunlight, the energy is stored until it is needed in the winter time when there is less sun.

Infact, there is a community being a built just outside Calgary in which all heating will be done by solar energy. The energy drawn from the panels is put into a storage unit which in turn gives out power as its needed. Their even heating a pool, arena and recycling center.

there's even a corny video about it:

That wouldn't be the first. Last summer I was watching EuroNews and saw a story about a popular Island north of Germany which was 100% powerd by solar and wind energy.

If I were president, I would do the following:

use energy funding to research and mass produce solar driven power generators. draw up a plan to tighten smog restrictions over the nations metropolis's. get the auto industry to begin the transition to manufacture more fuel efficient vehicles and vehicles that run on alternative energy sources.

re write the curriculum in the public education system. teach financing, investing, taxes, credit, mortages, loans and budget balancing in economics. teach abstinence, contraceptives, STDs and how to identify abusive relationships in sex education. Get schools to invest more in the arts and academics and less on athletics.

Make the prison system more self sufficient by growing thier own food. using prisoners to build roads, rails, power lines, tunneling, sewage. Inmates would be taught skills while detained and given access to support groups and psychiatrists. rapists and child predators will be castrated during processing and will be seperated until execution. All inmates, regardless of offense, will submit blood, fingerprint, hair, tissue and semen samples to the justice dept so that it will enter a national dna database. marijuana will be legalized, but treated like alcohol.

Gay marriages will be legalized. Federal funding to churches (all religions) will be prohibited. prayer will be allowed in schools provided that it is voluntary and not during classtime. voting and drafting age will be increased back to 21.

too many things to list right now, but thats just a few ideas i can think of right now. pizza time.

thats not how it should be. it isnt always the majority rule here as in 50/50. thats why it takes 2/3 approval for some votes to pass. the constitution also exists to protect the small from being oppressed by the many. this also isnt some kind of social statement like smoking pot and voting on american idol, these are civil liberties. doesnt matter if 99.9% of people want gay marriages to be banned. the fact is a significant minority of our citizens are being denied a right all citizens are entitled to.
