That's what I've always said. Let's return to isolationism. I believe George Washington put it best:

Let's just pull all of our troops back into our own country. Let's halt all funding to any foreign countries, period. Let's withdraw from the UN and tell them to find somewhere else to doddle in irrelevancy while the world spirals into a shitstorm.

Let's restation those troops along the coastlines and our land borders. Let's cease all immigration restrict any entry by non-citizens. Let's use the money we save on foreign aid (the United States hands out more than three times of the next largest contributer, which I believe is Great Britain.) on domestic issues such as subsidized health care, homes for the homeless and food for starving children. Let's use the savings to hire more policemen and federal agents to track down terrorists and criminals inside our own country. Let's take the UN building and turn it into a housing complex for every homeless person in New York City. Or perhaps use it to house charity organizations which benefit the United States.

Let's relax in our own country with a big middle finger waiting around for anyone who asks for help. Let's laugh when Islamic fundamentalists hell-bent on world domination start dropping nukes on our "friendly" neighbors while we watch the Atlanta Falcons game on NBC under our Strategic Missile Defense system.

We are screamed at and disliked for our inaction. We are loathed and spat upon for our action. We are ridiculed for anything in between. As the most powerful nation in the world, we never can or will do everything right. So maybe it's time we leveled a big fuck you to anyone who's out there bitching and started looking out for number one and no one else.
