Well great - theyve bypassed they ONE THING that really got me up in arms about not being able to get my card until Tuesday -
[quote:7cbf4][17:06:59] <MEPHiST0> got it
[17:07:29] <MEPHiST0> so if anyone has a server here
[17:07:33] <MEPHiST0> and wants to remove the timelimit
[17:07:35] <MEPHiST0> simply:
[17:07:51] <MEPHiST0> open up the file gpm_cq.py with notepad, it's under Battlefield 2 Standalone Demo Server\mods\bf2\python\game\gamemodes
[17:07:55] <MEPHiST0> then locate:
[17:08:00] <MEPHiST0> host.registerHandler('TimeLimitReached', onTimeLimitReached, 1)
[17:08:02] <MEPHiST0> and replace by:
[17:08:07] <MEPHiST0> #host.registerHandler('TimeLimitReached', onTimeLimitReached, 1)
[17:08:11] <MEPHiST0> that's all[/quote:7cbf4]
So - I guess folks will be able to have their unlimited 64-person epic battles. . . cry: -

I've been playing on a 64 server for a couple hours now, pretty fun. Too bad there are a few wankers who just want to go on TK sprees.

Join the club. . .when they said 1.4 Shader - they meant 1.4 shader -
DICE/EA have GOT to tell me what fucking graphical wonders they are pulling off that HL2/DOOM 3 are NOT - that requires a 1.4 card. . .

Doom 3 is an opengl game, it never required anything more than having hardware transform and lighting on your graphics card. It was originally designed with the capabilities of the geforce 256 in mind. Halflife 2 just used a bunch of shaders on the engine, they wanted to cater to the low-end more because the majority of halflife 1 users are still on low-end pc's.
BF2..i dunno what dice are doing to make it a dx9 requirement, it has a few nifty effects like if you stand close to a tank when it fires you get a screen blurring shell shock kind of effect, its similar to what was in call of duty but seeing as call of duty was an opengl game its possible that dx9 might have been a requirement to produce this effect in a direct 3d engine. Ea do seem to be cutting off quite a lot of users by doing this dx9 spec, the game does look good though and thers probably more dx9 use going on under the hood of the engine that may not be very obvious just by looking at the game.

I honestly think there was some back-room handshaking going on. . .between certain video-card makers and certain video-game makers. . .
I mean really - blur effects - they had that crap in Raven Shield for goodness sake - and that looked good too. . .
They are indeed cutting off a revenue stream - sure there are people who NEED new cards when they drop. . .but there are folks out there who wait (my vid-cards fan hasnt been spinning for a year and a half or so. . .and I'm still using it). . .bleah - dummy's.

Im not having much of a tmie running the bf2 demo either really, getting loads of sound lockups which crash my pc into a blue screen. Not really sure whats going on, tried a few different sound drivers and a few different graphics drivers. If i put the sound to hardware instead of software then in game the voices sound really broken up. annoy:
Some dicking around to do later tonigt i suppose.

They've dumbed down the helicopters too much. If you take your finger off the gas, the damn things just hover automatically. oOo:

The game is fun, but all these bugs and development problems (Nameing, etc) are starting to ruin it for me.

The naming thing is fine. It might cut the dicking around down a little since they can't just change their name afterwards.
