I'm not going to read this entire thread, so sorry if this was posted, but:

Counter-Strike: Source Beta Pre-Loading to Cyber Cafés
Pre-loading of the Counter-Strike: Source Beta to cyber cafés begins today. On Wednesday, this first phase of the beta will open and the game will be playable at all cyber cafes that subscribe to the Valve Cyber Café Program. Later this month, the beta will be extended to owners of Counter-Strike™: Condition Zero™ and ATI Fulfillment Coupon holders.
This beta serves as a compatibility test of the Source engine as we near completion of development on Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source. During this limited-time beta, issues can be reported using the in-game bug-reporting tool. In addition any crashes will automatically generate a report back to Valve’s bug database. We thank everyone for their participation, and we hope Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source live up to your expectations.[/quote:f874b]

Valve Opens Counter-Strike Source Beta
Phase 1 of the Counter-Strike: Source beta has opened at cyber cafes that subscribe to the Valve Cyber Café Program. A full listing of those venues can be found here: http://www.steampowered.com/?area=cafe_directory

This is just for Cyber Cafés - and it's only CS. The only element of HL2 being uploaded is the Source engine itself, needed to run CS. So.. yeah. kthx.

No, sounds and textures for hl2 are being preloaded on steam as well, obviously to decrease the download time when halflife 2 is meant to be available.

a bigger fanbase does not make something better oOo:
so because some people may of never heard of a game that may of got 10/10 reviews because it wasn't made by a big develeoper and gets unnoticed is worse than a game that more people will play that gets 7/10 or so.
Stupid logic.

Shawn what is it about you and upcoming games? Seriously all you can do is piss bitch and moan about how theyre gonna suck. You think that complete and utter piece of arcade style kiddie bullshit mohaa is the be all end all of first person shooters. Got news for ya mohaa was a big name game, it was hyped and hyped, it delivered a really good sp but a pos multiplayer, counterstrike started off as a mod and is the most played first person shooter online there is. A fucking MOD completly owning every other multimillion dollar first person shooter in online play.
You can moan all you want, but the fact is cs is popular because its FUN to fucking play, maybe if you opened your eyes and actually tried to enjoy a game without drawing comparrisons to that wank mohaa you'd realise that.
