I have a question. I'm going to sell my old PC that I don't use anymore. But before I do I want to transfer some files like songs and pics to my new one. What is the easiest way to do this? I checked the files transfer wizard help section, but I just want an easy to follow directions in plain english.
Would I just use a USB cable and just hook the two together directly? Or do I need a hub or something? Thanks for any advise guys.
Make sure Clients for MS Networks, File and Printer Sharing for MS
Networks and TCP/IP are set on both computers: also, they must
be in the same Workgroup. You can see the other computer from
Network Neighborhood: share folders and you're ready to go...
If you plug a USB cable directly from one PC to another, you will cause some serious damage to both your systems. You need an actual USB file transfer cable, specially made for such a purpose.
Pulling the old HDD and whacking it in the new PC is the cheapest and most realiable way of getting files across. Do that.
