[quote:9deda]Hey ED Since you came out and said that 2 gig processor is more than enough I was wondering where i could be getting some frame lag from in BF1942.

P4 2.0 (northwood)
512 DDR PC 2100
G4 4200 Ti 128 DDR

Im thinking the G4's ram speed is the problem, since its slower than the 64 versions. Just wondering if you had suggestions.[/quote:9deda]

It aint the CARD, the CPU, or the MEMORY. It's the game. Although if you have your card overcocked in anyway, it might affect it, but I've found - ESPECIALLY on levels with planes rendering, that there is HORRIBLE lag. BATTLEFIELD takes ALOT to run, but not so much that a system like that shouldn't be able to deliver 30-50 fps on high settings. On levels like BERLIN, BULGE, STALIN, etc. I get the frames I'm supposed to get. On GAZALA, EL ALMIEN, etc I get the frames, but I get nasty lag.

[quote:9deda]Hey Mr Special ED, what happened to your opinion that DDR RAM isn't any better then SDRAM???[/quote:9deda]

You must have heard me wrong. Technically speaking DDR is OBVIOUSLY "better" than SDRAM - my point ALWAYS has been is it needed. For now, no. It's nice if you have that cash to spend on it, but me I LOVE money and if I cant justify a purchase in my mind, I wont get it. 512 DDR is fine if you can get a good deal, and is probably as high as I would go right now. 1gig and up - just excessive to the point of ridiculousness. Show me any CASUAL user who at any given time even has 1gig of processes running, and I'll show you someone doing TOO MANY things at once.
