I bitch about it simply because they wasted a perfectly good weapon slot.
Shotguns are pretty lame (in real life and games) compared to "cooler" weapons.
If EA didn't have their head up their ass they could put portable MGs in that slot or something.

but then if EA didn't have their head up their ass they would:
1) put in classes so you don't have 20 shotguns, 20 rockets, or 20 MGs on a 24 person server
2) actually put useful fixes in the patches
3) make a proper expansion
4) release a proper SDK
5) make a realistic option (not like "realism", but realistic as opposed to stock/acrade, ie guns do more damage, you move slower and shoot crappier if you're hurt, most players have rifle/SMG, with a few snipers MGs rockets shotguns etc.,) (server could be set to real mode or regular)
6) PROOOONNNNNNNEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
