Yes its true. He used to make small ones about 5 inches long, and they almost looked like the pipebombs from Duke Nukem. He would use either a fuse or radio transmitter to set them off. He was building one in his backyard, and (I think, this was awhile ago) he mixed the wrong substances before adding something else, so when he put in the contents, it was basically like pouring acid into water, it fizzed up and shit, and just blew up in his face, and took off his arm almost up to his elbow.
