Because they want to be historically accurate. It's a Panzerschreck, a powerful German rip off of the Bazooka.

Also, this may seem obvious, but I just thought I'd mention that the Panzerfaust was much more common, and was easier to user by the untrained old men and boys they had fighting at the front lines, being a disposable one shot one kill weapon.

I don't think Panzerschrecks were very common from late 1944 till the end of the war, as they probably couldn't build the complex electrical firing system, and afford to train people to use such a complicated device.
