I understand why this would upset you so much (although I can't relate to it, we don't take our national anthem here quite as seriously as you do there, but I understand all the same) but this I seriously hope isn't the case...

Not telling you how to raise your children but I certainly hope that statement was figurative.

Nothing that a child can do is so bad that you have to "smack the shit out of them".
