Well, first off the girl is (I believe) 19 years old. So the news already knows this will appeal to all people because she is young.

Second, she's a female in the armed forces. If it was a male who went through the same predicament, it would get as much media attention, but not the same praise. Because women are, in modern society, considered to be less likely to fight in a war than a man would, it appealed to people more.

Third, people heard of the torture she went through having her bones broke, and naturally felt sorrow for her.

I personally don't see her as a "hero". She lived through torture of a foreign enemy, and was able to be brought back to US soil in one peace, but I think her deserving title would be a "survivor". Rambo is a hero.

I think you need to get the facts straight before you get all bent out of shape and say she should die etc...

1st off like many already said this was the media and government that played up this rescue. Jessica herself said that it has been overdramatized and she feels used that they taped the entire thing to use as PR. She NEVER admits to going down fighting and gives all the credit to her squad mates. She herself says that she is not a hero and that she will not take credit for something that did not happen to her. she was never shot, stabbed, raped or beaten. all of her injuries occured from the vehicle crash. There were no Iraqis in the hospital when she was rescued only hospital workers who were treating her.

read about her interview here
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/11/07/lynch. ... index.html

That being said anyone who serves in the military and goes to war is a hero in my eyes more than many of us will ever be

so next time you feel like making some dumbass comments take a moment from bitching about how your mom hates you and your life is horrible and get to know the facts

Jessica Lynch is a hero just for the sole fact that she was in Iraq during the conflict! She has more (figurative) balls than me, that's for fucking well sure.

Agreed. I think they are making too much out of it, but she's still a hero in my book.

The movie sucked. I know they were on a limited budget but gah. The girl who played Lynch couldn't act at all. Along with the rest of the females in that movie with the exception of that lawyer's wife

i agree with u the marines should be formaly recognised. maybe it just me the media seems to over dramatize the whole thing. i could see making it a big deal if she fought back until they got her then ok, buty from what i hear all she did was through down her gun and pray, please correct me if im wrong.

i can't say what i would do because ive never been in that position, but u figure if she had fought back maybe they would have just killed her, who knows?

thats because there all form porno movies they didnt have the money to hire real actors. that and no self-respecting actor would ever be a part of poorly done millitary propaganda to try and hype a war that practly no one wanted in the first place
