[quote:a3cae]Whether you're looking for the merely annoying or hunting for that perfect, ISP-killing DoS worm, you've come to the right place. We examine three state-of-the-art, system infectors and try to determine what's right for your agenda.
Piratedeath.barsoom

This is a good old-fashioned boot sector infector with a twist. Instead of requiring the user to open an e-mail, the perps managed to pay off someone at a CD pressing plant. All copies of Britney's latest CD now have a secret session that autoexecutes when it detects that the CD has been inserted in a PC drive. After it autolaunches, the program searches for any copies of Gnutella, WASTE, Morpheus, or Kazaa. If any of these are detected, it infects the drive's boot sector. Then, the next time the system boots up, the virus launches, reformats the drive, and puts up a message reading "RIAA 4EVAR!"

On the flip side, if iTunes is detected, the boot sector is spared. Instead, the Windows startup bitmap is replaced with the Apple logo, bearing the cut line "STEVIE JOBS ROXXORS!"

If no music player or file sharing of any kind is detected, the boot sector is infected anyway. When the poor slob reboots, the system again reformats the hard drive and puts up the message: "TEH BORING!"
