I'm 21 so I get to go wherever I want for lunch. Including Las Vegas.

When I was in Jr. High we had to get a slip signed so we could go off the grounds.

When kids are at school, it's the school's responsibility to take care of them. So if all the kids are going wherever, then I think the school could have some liability on their hands. This is most likley why schools will punish those who break the rules, or get students to sign a slip with lessens the responsibility.

Once I got to high school, we could go anywhere, including the bikini bar down the street.
