I tried twice to enlist. The first time, I was denied because I had open-heart surgery as a child. Then, the recruiter contacted me because my IQ has me on some federal list. I drove to Columbia (state capitol) to meet with a senior Intel recruiter and, after passing my first interview, was disqualified during the second when I mentioned my heart surgery.

Anyway, deserters are sorry. You sign up with the military to defend a country you love, not for no reason other than getting money for college. Obviously, a patriot is going to fight a lot harder than some dick cheese who wanted a free ride. Let them desert, don't need them anyway. They're the same sissies who break down in combat situations and get good soldiers killed.
