The Latin word Formido(losus) used by the Romans to describe the enemy armies involved in a revolt, means " causing dread, terror,etc "

Sparatcus was called terriloquus by many roman historians, meaning he had a dreadful and terror filled way of speaking.

Mithridates IV of Pontus who declared war/revolted against the Romans was nicknamed Aversabilis ( to turn away for fear of death )
