In an answer to the original question, I would agree that Canada, in general, has a huge inferiority complex. We are always looking to compare ourselves to others. Especially the US. I think we are so similar in the US in so many ways that it’s almost natural to compare the two. Canada is like the US’s little brother. And when we can “beat” them at something, it’s like the little brother beating the big brother at something. Something to gloat about.

I can tell you that whenever I’m watching an American station and I hear them mention Canada, I always look closely at what their saying. It’s just a habit. To be mentioned by the most powerful country in the world is something of a treat I suppose to many Canadians. So when Americans come here, we feel the need to ask them how does Canada compare to America. We want them to say something good to make us feel good about living here.

Canadians think that others see them as a lesser part when compared to other countries. And for some reason Canadians want to prove this wrong since we know that some of our trees are beautiful and that some of our streets are clean.

When an American comes here, I want to know what they think of the place. I love this country and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but I still want to know what others think for some reason. Call me crazy I guess.
