Michelin is coming out with a new airless tire.

I think they would be nice to have, in the summer, or non winter parts of the year. There are a couple downsides. Police can't use spike strips on these tires, get a rock stuck in there and it might do some serious damage.
Some good things are, no more air valves. You dont ever need to check the pressure, and you dont need to patch them if you run over a nail or something.

I believe it looks retarded, but I guess some people might find it cool.

they might add a skirt to it, to prevent stuff from getting in there, however, i wonder what the life is for the flexible spokes. cuz i cant imagine those lasting all that long, especially in some areas, particuarly those with rugged terrain ie dirt roads

i think its pretty interesting. you can say it looks stupid but i gurantee they will create a skirt to make it look like a normal tire. my bet is that it will sell but only to a small select market.

Esthetics on a vehicle is not that important, only efficiency is. You fucking ricers are wasting cash on what should be nothing more than a means of transportation...

If the positives outweigh the negatives and pricing is fair, I will purchase them.

if they come out with all-season truck tire, then I will buy it ( if the price is right too )

edit: never having to worry about a flat rock:

It's supposed to be ugly. Michellin knows what they are doing. If they design an ugly ass tire that will market to Team Retard (i.e. rappers, ricers, etc...) then their tire will be a social icon just like the spinners are now.

Good development but they will not be any good come winter as snow and ice will get in there and throw it off balance. It will be nice to not have to worry about regulating tire pressure from hot to cold weather.
