so it's impossible for there to be an accident in which no one is at fault?

im not debating on whether this was an accident or not, but all accidents have someone who was at fault - whether its in a car or with a gun. im just disappointed how this thing will most likely get swept under the rug as a no biggie and everyone will be fine.

I'm not sure how you can really argue this c312. Cheney shot another person.

If I lose control of my can and hit a person another car or tree and kill someone, I will most likley be charged...unless i'm named danny heatley.

If you shoot someone accidentally, you will most likley be charged with something regardless if it is an accident or not.

Manslaughter is basically killing someone on accident or due to lack of care or ones duties. Manslaughter is also a crime and people spend many years in jail for it just the same as murder. Even attempted murder is illegal, so what would we call this? its not attepmted manslaughter becuase it was an accident, but still, Nothing in me says cheney should be allowed to walk free after shooting somone, accident or not.

[quote:82d2b]Scott McClellan, the White House spokesman, opened his morning briefing with a quip about the orange jackets that Mr Cheney and his companions were wearing when the accident happened. Previewing Mr Bush's lunchtime meeting with an American football team he said "the orange that they are wearing is not because they are worried the vice-president is there."[/quote:82d2b]

I'm laughing at the commentary provided by Jon Stewart more than anything..matching this incident to the alexander hamilton duel which was based on loyalty.. cool:

but there is such thing as an accident with no one at fault. to use the car example, there were two girls who graduated from my highschool and on their way to college one weekend, they swerved around a deer that was on the road and into a semi and both died. Who is at fault there? no one, I'm just saying there is such thing as an accident with no fault.

Saying, "Cheney shot another person" makes it too simple, there were obviously other factors involved, most of which we will never know because we weren't there.

If this happened to anyone else, it would be dismissed, they would say, whoops, it was an accident, maybe take away his license, but they wouldn't do anything unless it was determined that he was actually being negligent in someway.

this one an accident and you cannot say someone was at fault. he forgot to let everyone know that he had moved, and hence for his mistake he got shot.

Regular non-famous shooting accident = local news.

Vice President shooting accident = fucking world news.

Shit happens. I don't get why the media has to be right up his ass.
