Pistol ranges up to 50 yards, rifle ranges up to 400 yards. Totally safe, guns are not toys but they can be as fun. The alcohol comes out after the guns are cased and put away. I have been shooting for about 30 years (I was on Livonia Michigans rifle team at age 12) and have always held saftey as priorty #1
