The aspect of America's world involvement is the fact that so many nations rely on the strength of our economy to survive. I don't like this, and many other politicians don't like this either, both on the Democratic and Republican side. It's easy for people to forget that the world is very hypocritical when they denounce our decision to get involved in other nations' affairs (not looking at this as Iraq, but our historical involvement with all nations). Those same nations then get mad at us when we do decide to get involved in foreign affairs, even though they desperately depend on us. I would like to see us say, "screw you all, deal with your own problems," but we can't do that, simply because we are the most powerful nation in the world. The rest of the world acts as if they don't want to see us intervene with foreign affairs, but if we were to completely pull back (and pulling back refers not only to Iraq or Afghanistan in a military sense, but everywhere militarily and financially), people would be outraged over it. As a nation that has the world's most powerful economy, we have a duty to look out for our fellow man.

Now you can argue whether or not we make wise decisions regarding foreign affairs, but don't put partisan politics into it. I hate politics, I hate to see where both parties are heading. There are going to be blunders, as well as successes, in regard to foreign relations. There always have been, despite who holds the office of the Presidency.
