[quote="MR. SPECIAL ED":d33a9]There is no such thing as FREE SPEECH at a school. It is a government building. SO - if they say a Confederate Flag promotes racism, and is a sad reminder of times past - they can take it down 100%. If you want to be an ass and display one on your lawn - go right ahead.

Green. You'd make Joe McCarthy blush.

Heres the difference between Black Heritage and "so-called" white heritage - blacks dont go around espousing the teachings of Farakhan and "pre-saved" Malcolm X. They wear African clothing and celebrate the history of their people. The CONFEDERATE flag has ZERO positive connotation to it. ZERO. It belongs to a devisive and terrible time in American history. Asking for someone at a public facility to be comfortable with that, is like asking a Jew if hes alright with having a Swastika hung over a schools name, simply because the school is in a predominantly German area. Its ludicrous. You arent celebrating ANY kind of history that DESERVES to be celebrated.

I mean if ANYONE can give me ONE thing that that flag represents, one thing that casts that history in a positive light - then I'll say fine. Go wave it. That's something to be proud of.[/quote:d33a9]

Well i dont know about you, but i dont think the stars and stripes would have looked nice on the roof.
