Name me some Piano solo thingys -
02-05-2004, 02:21 PM
I was wondering if any of you guys know some songs with just piaon solos in them and what not, I am looking for some that sound similar to this
http://members.rogers.com/buck_nutty/An ... _Roses.mp3
This piano solo is right at teh beginning of the song and I liked it.
So post song titles and shit for me if you know any
and I know you guys have some because a while back there was a "post your favourite orchestrated theme" or something
thanks

Right Now - Van Halen
Beth - KISS
Right Here Waiting - Richard Marx (yeah, Marx is a fucking pansy, but that tune is pure panty remover if you can play it and sing it)
The Peanuts Theme - Schroeder biggrin:

Unfortunatly I cannot listen to your example right now , but I may be able to help just the same.
I heard mention of Jazz and Nora Jones , also the Peanuts theme so I will start in that area.....
Personally when it comes to Jazz , I am a Strings and Horns kind of guy.
I will always recomend Rosemary Clooney and Frank Sinatra , but if you want Piano....
Harry Conick Jr. is your sorce. If you are unfamilliar with his sound , he is a modern Cajun Jazz musician with heavy traditional influences.
In terms of Orchestrated music look for these titles:
The Mission Soundtrack. Really powerful music in there.
The Last of the Mohicans Soundtrack. There are some amazing Violens in there but lots of good Orchestrated stuff too.
Henry Mancini . Pink Panther
Also check out these three artists:
Josh Groban , Charlete Church , and Yani.
Now if you are looking for a more ethnic sound , yet high cultured and Instrumental look at these artists:
Irish :
Seamus Connolly
Altan
Joanie Madden
Fiona Joyce
Dagda
and of corse Enya and her sister Maire Brennan
Other :
Dead Can Dance
Lisa Gerrard
Deep Forest
Rusted Root
Vas
Enigma
And a personal favorite : Loreena McKennitt
Now Noras music is somber and sexy , if you want sounds like that some other options may be:
Portishead
Mazzy Star
Fiona Apple
Erykah Badu
Sarah McLachlan
And the Ultimate in sexy Piano : Tori Amos
I really wish I could listen to your example.....oh well. These guys will let me know if I am off-track.
