Do just that.

I run Doom 3 on Medium, 1024x768. AA bogs everythind down, and isnt noticable with it off. Plus, turn off V-sync, and that helps a lot. NEVER turn down bump-mapping...give it a try, though. The game looks like Plato-world with it off.

AA takes away all those annoying jaggies. V-sync is off (whatever that does).

V-sinc locks your frame rates at multiples of your refresh rate. If your monitor's refresh rate is 60hz then your FPS will 30, 60, 120, ect.........

It stops verticle tearing which occurs when your frame rate is lot of faster than your refresh rate. So if you have a shitty monitor and a really good video card, you should probably use vsinc.

If your refresh rate is 60, it doesn't matter how many frames get drawn: you'll
only have 60 of them... anything over and it's discarded.

Edit: discarded is an ugly word. The appropriate term is "ignored". You could let
3 frames pass before your monitor actually re-draws the screen. Frame #1 drawn,
3 get ignored, Frame #5 drawn, etc if you follow the example...
